Profile

Hello we are Sixteen62

Passionate advocators for the principles of Sustainable Development and the role of Sustainable Engineering in our future.

We focus on the juncture of traditional engineering, environmental science and social science to advance technological solutions that balance the economic need with the environmental and social for the benefit of society.

We recognise the scale and complexity of the issues and

We support businesses and institutions to define, develop and integrate sustainable engineering solutions, with the aim of reducing environmental impact and improving operational resilience.

Supporters of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), through Sustainable Engineering we are specifically aligned with SDG#9 to ‘Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, and foster innovation’.

Our Vision

A sustainable future – a future of environmental stability, economic security and social equality.

We envisage a future defined by the principles of Sustainable Development – a resilient future for our generation, the next and beyond. Our commitment to a sustainable future guides our sense of purpose, aligns our goals, links our values, motivates and inspires.

We are under no illusion though, that the challenges are global, systemic and inherently complex. The solutions require international levels of engagement, unquestionable truth, open communication and unilateral agreement never achieved before. And time is short if we wish to manage our destiny.

Yet, quite possibly uniquely, it is true that just as the impacts affect everyone, so to can we all influence the outcomes; ordinary can achieve the extraordinary, we can all contribute to our sustainable future. We believe in being inspired not feared. Being empowered not oppressed. Our vision is to be part of the solution, be our future.

As a civilisation we have never been better informed to help make the necessary changes. The application of big data is enabling detailed quantitative analysis and provide a single truth, and the ever increasing social sharing is spreading that truth and enhancing our qualitative understanding of the relationship between Env, Ec and Soc. The opportunities to adapt and evolve are increasing. As a species we are highly resilient and with the capacity of human endeavour to create and recreate means ordinary people become empowered to deliver the extraordinary for our sustainable existence.

Our Purpose

To shape a more resilient future through sustainable engineering.

We exist at a time when human influence is shaping the current geological epoch. And Technological development To support our vision we only partner with businesses and institutions who support the UN SDGs. Technology should only ever serve to enhance the natural world and our interaction with it. We are only one part and so we ensure that the work we do, we do it to the best of our ability. The opportunities to develop technological innovative solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems is hugely motivating. Sustainability aligns our strategy goals.

Our Values

Environmental conscious, engineering heart and humanitarian soul. Our values reflect how we conduct our business and those of the world we wish to live in.

Respect

Respect for our environment, people, our business and our clients.

Integrity

Integrity in our conduct with a focus on truth and transparency.

Diligence

Diligence in our work. The challenges are just, sizeable and the time limited, so a commitment to delivery is essential.

At Sixteen62, we recognise a recurring theme: the number three.

Its presence spans disciplines, from ancient philosophy, where Aristotle introduced Omne Trium Perfectum (“everything that comes in threes is perfect”), to contemporary business, design, and communication. Whether in the Rule of Thirds in photography or the three-act structure in storytelling, the number three consistently contributes to clarity, balance, and memorability.

While our business was not intentionally built around this principle, the structure of three has naturally emerged across our operations:

  • Three core services: Eco-Innovation, Sustainable Engineering, and Transition Management.
  • Three pillars of sustainability: Environmental, Social, and Economic.
  • Three core values: Respect, Integrity, and Diligence.
  • Three sides to our logo

This is not a formula, but a practical observation: although patterns may begin with two elements, three often serves as the catalyst for recognition, bringing rhythm, clarity, and a sense of completeness. Human cognition is particularly attuned to such structures, which is why the Rule of Three is widely adopted in branding, communication, and design.

We do not claim perfection. But we do recognise the value of structure. The recurring use of three across our services, values, and sustainability pillars provides a consistent framework that supports clarity in our messaging and cohesion in our approach.

And if nothing else, it gives us a neat excuse to group things nicely. Because let’s be honest, it’s more about tidy thinking than cosmic significance.

1662?

Our name, Sixteen62, pays tribute to a pivotal moment in environmental history. In the year 1662, the English writer and Royal Society founding member John Evelyn presented his paper Sylva, or A Discourse of Forest-Trees and the Propagation of Timber, to the Royal Society. This work is widely recognised as one of the earliest formal discussions on sustainable resource management.

Evelyn’s Sylva was a response to the deforestation crisis caused by the demands of the Royal Navy, which was rapidly depleting Britain’s timber reserves. His proposal was simple yet visionary: plant trees not only for aesthetic and economic value, but to ensure future generations have access to essential natural resources. His advocacy for reforestation and long-term thinking laid the groundwork for what we now understand as sustainability.

Choosing the name Sixteen62 is a deliberate acknowledgement of this legacy. It reflects our alignment with the principles Evelyn advocated: Long-term thinking, responsible stewardship, and the regeneration of natural resources. Sustainability, as Evelyn understood it, is not a modern invention but a foundational concept rooted in foresight and care for future generations. This ethos continues to shape our approach to sustainable engineering and innovation today.
